The wood is used for thin wooden pieces attached to the outrigger section of a canoe. In recent years, mangroves have also been planted in places such as Funafala to help protect the coast from erosion.
材は，カヌーのアウトリガー部分に取り付ける細い木材などに用いられる．また近年では，海岸浸食を防ぐため，フナファラなどでマングローブの植林が行われている．
