ココヤシの苞（taume）を裂いて束ね，パンダナスの葉（laufala）を細く裂いたもので縛って作る．Koch（1961）には，束の周囲をkakaで包む製法も記録されている．先端に火をつけると長時間くすぶり続け，夜間のトビウオ漁で lama に火をつけるために用いる．
Made by splitting and bundling coconut spathes (taume) and tying the bundle with thin strips of pandanus leaf (laufala). Koch (1961) also describes a method in which the bundle is wrapped with kaka. Once lit at the end, it continues to smoulder for a long time and is used to light lama during night fishing for flying fish.
