ツバル全島に見られる利用価値の高い植物．野生のもの（fala vao）もあるが，食用に栽培されるもの（fala kai）もある．果実は食用とされ，葉は屋根ふき材，ござ，籠，皿，団扇，伝統舞踊の衣装など，さまざまな用途に用いられる．[参] fala tinakaleve, fala magatalo, fala vao.
A highly useful plant found throughout Tuvalu. There are both wild pandanus (fala vao) and varieties cultivated for food (fala kai). The fruit is eaten, while the leaves are used for a wide variety of purposes, including thatching, mats, baskets, plates, fans, and costumes for traditional dances.
